FAQ's:

Reflexology
Q: Is Reflexology like a foot massage?
A: Reflexology is not a beauty therapy or a foot massage; it's a clinical treatment with proven results.

Q: Can anyone have a treatment session?
A: It is totally safe for all people of all ages, from babies to the elderly. It can bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.

Q: Will it tickle?
A: It's not ticklish as firm pressure is used. I will make sure at all times that you are well within pain threshold.

Q: Who can benefit from Reflexology?
A: Since Reflexology treats the person and not just the symptoms of illness, disease or conditions, the answer is pretty much anyone who is not enjoying 100% optimum health could gain something.

Q: What Benefits can be Expected?
Some important benefits of Reflexology are:

◦ Improved circulation
◦ Relaxation of taut nerves
◦ Flushes toxins, impurities and revitalise energy
◦ Reduction in stress
◦ Stimulates natural self healing processes in the body
◦ Gives a sense of 'wholeness' and a greater well being.

Q: Are there any circumstances in which Reflexology would not be advisable?
A: Reflexology is a very safe form of treatment but it may not be suitable for some people suffering with Deep vein thrombosis, Phlebitis or conditions associated with excessive blood clotting.

Q: Can Reflexology have an effect if I am taking any medication?
A: Reflexology works by helping the body function at an optimal level. There are some circumstances where this may mean that you don't need as high a dose of medication as you would when not attending Reflexology. However any changes in dosage or frequency of medication must always be discussed with your GP prior to altering the medication.

Q: How will I feel after a treatment?
Some people feel sleepy after a treatment, whereas some feel awake and energised. The after effects vary from person to person but generally most feel extremely relaxed and content. Occasionally people will experience headaches and/or feelings of nausea. This is simply an indication that the treatment has helped to move toxins in your body. For this reason it is very important to drink plenty of water, particularly after a treatment to help flush these toxins from your system. Removing toxins from the body enables proper functioning of the body's organs and systems.

Q: Do I need to be referred by my GP?
A: No is the answer.
I will compile a medical history in discussion with you before treatment and if I feel for any reason that you should not have a treatment without consulting your GP, then I will say so.

Q: Will I have to undress?
A: No, all I need to get at is your feet or hands.

Q:What does GNSR & MAR stand for on your website & business literature?
A:GNSR is for 'Graduate of Northern School of Reflexology' which is where I studied Reflexology, and MAR stands for 'Member of Association of Reflexology' which is our governing body. CNHC stands for member of Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council.

Hot Stones Reflexology
Q:What does this treatment include?
A:With this treatment I will start with a neck and shoulder massage followed by placement of warm stones. Then I will follow with stretches and massage of the legs and feet before the treatment start on the feet with smaller basalt stones.

Swedish Body Massage & Indian Head Massage
Q:How will I feel after a treatment?
A:Most people feel very relaxed, but you may feel drowsy. It's important to drink plenty of fluids and relax as much as possible following treatments.

Q:Is there anyone who cannot be treated?
A:There are certain conditions when it is inadvisable to treat:-like high fever or infectious disease, severe bruising to an area that would be massaged, recent injuries to head, neck, shoulders etc, initial three months of pregnancy. There are a few more so if concerned always ask your therapist for advice.

Q:Is the massage soft or hard pressure?
A:Swedish massage is firm pressure, but can be adjusted to suit each client.
